If you want ease of use then Slack is not the way to go. It is complicated to set up and run. That is just part of the history of Slackware distributions. They are one of the oldest Linux branches and it is still old school by design.
There is a continuum of distributions for ease of use and Vector is at the low (or high depending on your perspective) end, a long with Arch, Gentoo. and LFS. At the high end is Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, SimplyMEPIS, PCLinuxOS and Mandriva. Fedora is a step or two lower, as is Debian, the mother of Ubuntu and its derivatives. All are equally powerful. The trick is to find where you belong on that continuum. People who tend to use the basic distros are power users and people who like hands on experience to learn how it works. Building your own distribution and optimising it for your hardware is an art best left to those who appreciate it. Depending on your hardware, you might want to look into alternatives. I am not suggesting that Vector is not good, but just maybe not where you need to be, something that only you can say. One of the problems that you will encounter is that the community is small and spread out so you will find it harder to get help (mainly because people who can use basic distributions are self sufficient and tend not to need help, so don't frequent forums).
