Although it's probably not the issue, if you're using a router you might check 
the list of denied hosts on the router. That would produce the kind of messages 
you're seeing.

I have a long list of denied hosts in the HOSTS file on my personal machine, 
and that is exactly what I see when one of those is supposed to load--mostly 
advertising sites that are linked on so many websites in my case. 

Since you get the same result with Windows and Linux on several machines, 
that's why I would check the router. How it may have happened, if that is the 
case, I have no idea--but it may be worth checking. Many routers have the 
capability of listing such denied sites.
