Hi all,
I've been using Linux for about 2 months now. After several unsuccessful
attempts I managed to get Mint 10 - Julia - installed. It's on one (or maybe
two) partitions and Windows XP is on another. When I boot the computer I can
choose to start either Mint or Windows.

What I'm looking for is a simple database to use on the Linux side. I've been
maintaining my financial stuff in MS Works' database for several years now, and
it works fine for me, but of course I can't use it in Linux - not even in Wine.
I've tried OpenOffice's database but have had a lot of problems, and really,
from what I've seen it's a lot more complex than I need. Being in Works, the
current DB is not relational, and that's fine with me.

The research I've done so far hasn't been helpful. I've found a bunch of other
databases mentioned but the information provided was way over my head. It's
possible they were talking about programming, but it's been years (like about
35 :) ) since I did any of that and I don't really want to get back into it.

I did read a forum post from someone who was looking for the same thing as I
am. One of the answers was that "simple" and "database" don't tend to go
together. If that's true then I guess I'm stuck going over to Windows whenever
I need to update my records. But I thought it was worth asking here. I've
checked out both FAQs - the regular and Windows users ones - and didn't see
anything there that covered this.

If anyone has any suggestions for what might work for my intended use, that
would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.

Meg
