Just using the demo or live mode - any Linux distro (Debian, Ubuntu,
Mint etc) is severely limited in working features. During a first
install as any system, including Windows, there are Updates that have to
be applied. There are User Preferences among settings to set as you like
it.

With the new Linux you would install you would have to run the Update
manager (same as Windows Updates) generally to be able to even start
installing and using softwares.

So in other words, the Demo live version as a CD/DVD or USB Drive
plugged in is generally ONLY going to allow browsing online and not
really much more. It is just a look see and that is about it. The idea
is if you like what you see, you install it, run and apply Updates and
have the fun and/or productivity you wanted. The demo live distro is NOT
a fully working model.

This has been my experience over a couple years now with a handful of
distros. As I remember you can not even install ANY software until Linux
is installed on the computer - either only system or as a dual boot etc.

Maybe that helps and I suspect from the thread here you may have been
trying to do things on the demo version and not knowing you can not and
were looking for how to do things and nothing you tried worked. true?

PSSS... as a Windows user for years, I found with Linux it is as simple
as if you know how to use a computer, like email and browsing the web
and adjusting settings etc - then you already know how to use any
operating system out here! Easy as pie. Really.
