I'm headed that way for most uses, but it isn't always the best way to
go.  The biggest reason is that inspite of how simple I think it is to
create a map driver for the MTD stuff, there seems to be no
documentation on how to do it.  I could easily base a driver on the
map_rom driver, but I haven't yet figured out how to tie it into the
rest of the system and use it.

So, yes I do want to but can't yet and it isn't always the best choice.
