Hi,
I received my DoC today and tried to get LinuxBios working for hours
without any success.
The configuration :
- MS7308E + 128 MB Ram (tried socket 1 or 2) + Celeron 600
- IBM HardDrive as hda with linux root fs at /dev/hda7
- serial cross-cable linked to my other pc to watch console under minicom
(serial cable only have RD/TD & RTS/CTS lines connected and works fine
under minicom using hardware flow control).
- The distribution installed is a Mandrake 7.2 with the following versions
of as & gcc :
GNU assembler version 2.10.90 (i586-mandrake-linux) using BFD version
2.10.0.24
gcc version 2.95.3 19991030 (prerelease)
I'm using a 2.4.0 kernel source tree with the
2.4.0-test12-sis630-sisfb_lite.patch patch.
The kernel boots fine when loaded from the harddrive using lilo & the
original bios.
I'm following exactly all the instruction given in the SiS630 HowTo and
get the 3 following files :
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 512 fév 3 01:33 docipl
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 34486 fév 3 01:33 linuxbios.strip*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 662886 fév 3 01:33 vmlinux.bin.gz*
Then I call burn_mtd which gives me the following result :
rmmod: module docprobe is not loaded
rmmod: module doc2001 is not loaded
rmmod: module docecc is not loaded

the french :)
Then I switch the power off and turn it back on a few seconds latter and
... nothing happens ... nor on the atached screen, nor on the minicom of
the other computer ... nothing.
Could Mandrake 7.2 prevent LinuxBios from working ? (i already saw on the
mailing list someone failing to get linuxbios working with a MdK 7.2).
If anyone can confirm, I'll install a RH6.2 and give an other try.
If anyone has a solution .... please tell me ;-))
Thank you
eric
