IIRC linuxBIOS was spawned from freebios or perhaps vice-versa. At one time it was an
"exchange of information" but I don't even think its updated now.

The 440 style chipset is currently only supported in one limited configuration by
Tyson's
code. He hardcodes the memory structure.
If you have a 440 and want to get it up then getting SPD (memory type and
configuration
autodetection) up and going would be the current show stopper.
However, configuring SDRAM is not for the faint of heart.... prepare to get
down-and-dirty
with the intel datasheets and lots of trial and error cause its pretty complex stuff.
