We are students from south of Brazil and would like get more details
about this projetc.
We had setup a diskless environment (Conectiva Linux 5.0), using
netboot/etherboot over a LAN runinng at 10/100 Mbps, and our experience
was well success. For this implementation was applied dhcp/bootp to get
an ip address, tftp to tranfer kernel image using chips EPROMs 27c256
over network card nepci 2000 at 10Mbps and over realtek 8129 at 100Mbps.
At this moment, we intend to remove chips EPROMs and replace the
bootstrap method, using LinuxBios.
Would like know about the project evolution, mainboard support, some
experiences in other places, next designs, kernel versions and
distribuitions that was tested and, mainly, if was configured some
diskless enviroment using M598LMR (pcchips) mainboad chipset SiS 530.
Now, we have to implement a diskless enviroment using M598LMR and don't
like to purchase a network card with eprom, but to use the network
present in the mainboard.
