O.k.  I'm seeing a few other errors after I get to this point
so I have taken all of the example configuration from util/config
and built up a setup where I can compile all of them.

As soon as I fix whatever build errors show up with that test
I'm going to commit another batches of fixes for the chaos
I have caused.
