I will chime in here that I am booting a 2.2.19 from a 2.4 with
kexec.  The only issue I had was that for some yet unknown reason I
have to use the original mkelfImage to build my image or it dosn't
work correctly.  If I use any of the later mkelfImages then the
2.2.19 either throws an oops or panics because it can't mount the
initrd properly.
