we are still hunting the linux prompt after being stuck for almost two weeks at the ide controllers not being identified %-)Applying the ide-spinup patch didn't do it for us but we eventually got it right after printing all devfn 0x39 (ide) registers
and finding that the ide enable bit was 0x0 (0x8000 that should have been).
After few minor problems (most of them solved by menuconfig'ing ...) our board got to the init() call and hangs, we quickly enabled all vga support since all of our output was serial but there is no more output , only the hard disk seems to work heavily. After a few minutes the system resets and the second run of linuxbios freezes at initial stage. What is going on?
Our system is a 440bx booting linuxbios from compact flash and mounting root from ide. Attached is a complete printout of the boot process.
