First, don't worry, gunzip isn't going away any time soon.

removing gunzip() from linuxbios itself is what you get as part of
mkelfImage. MkelfImage will take an arbitrary executable and bundle it in
with a gunzip stub (just as bzImage works in linux now) such that the
bundle unzips itself. It took me a while to see what Eric was up to but
now that I get it I have found it very useful.
