I just had an idea perhaps it's baked but here goes.... What would be the possibility of writeing linux bios so that it shows up as a bios extension that never returns. Bios extensions are called very early in the init sequence. If you build linuxbios as a BIOS extension then it could take over following the VGA bios return and assume control of the machine. As a bonus you get memory init as well and the possibility of running on chipsets that aren't very well documented. It wouldn't be superfast like pure linuxbios but probally still pretty quick. I realize that this would probally have some conflicts to work out but that seems much easier to do compared to implemnting bios services. -- Richard A. Smith Bitworks, Inc.
