I used to work with a SC1200 system, developing firmware, with my former
employer. I quit there Dec/Jan though. And they've gone out of business
since.

Had I still been there and they still been going, I would have loved to try
out your code. I had some discussions with Bari Ari on the topic some while
ago, as well.

And what he writes in his mail on the SMM code and VSM and NSC being
unhelpful is also quite true. I don't think they'll help anyone create
an opensource BIOS for their systems when they have a subsidiary (Insyde)
whose only business is to sell BIOS software for NSC platforms..

I used the BLDT from NSC/Insyde and put that together with Etherboot. It
worked very well.

My plan was to also add grub from Tiara in there, but I never got around to
it.

Bingo. My former employer created legacy BIOS INT services so that LILO
ran. But it took quite some time (as in a couple of manmonths). I don't
really know why they didn't investigate grub from Tiara more closely.
