I think what Alessio is asking is: does he have to use a DoC, or can he put linuxbios into a "normal" (typically 256KByte) flash.
The answer is, you can't fit linuxbios into 256KBytes. You can easily put it into an 8MByte DoC. The DoC goes into a 256KByte BIOS flash socket, and can be programmed by the same electronics on the motherboard that programs a normal flash. I'm assuming the flash programming _software_ has to be different from the usual flash programming software, in order to work with the memory mapping circuits in the DoC and program the larger memory space. - Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ronald G Minnich" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Alessio Bogani" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, March 12, 2002 9:59 AM Subject: Re: A stupid question > On Tue, 12 Mar 2002, Alessio Bogani wrote: > > > Is it possible write linuxbios in a normal flash instead of a DOC? > > yes, most boards use it in normal flash. > > ron > >
