I checked the archives and saw Jacques message of Aug 11 about ip aliasing with 2.1.1xx and linuxconf netconf not working well together, because of the 2.1.1xx's failure to present /proc/net/aliases and /proc/net/alias_types. Problem is on redhat, the way it uses linuxconf --hint to feed the ifup-aliases script, aliases don't get started at all in this situation with 2.1.1xx (I am trying with 2.1.125).
