Hi, I am just trying to set up a PC with RedHat 5.1 out of the box, and I want to configure dial-up PPP access to T-online, my local ISP. This provider (part of Deutsche Telekom) uses your telephone number as a part of the login ID, and if (like mine) your number is shorter than 12 digits, you have to fill it with '#' characters. Unfortunately, in the pap-secrets file, the '#' marks the start of a comment field. OK, you can put the user ID inside "" and pppd will handle it. But linuxconf gets totally confused! How can I get linuxconf to handle a '#' in the user ID -- or failing that, what other software do people recommend for controlling a PPP link? All I really need is an easy means of bringing the link up, bringing it down and checking the current status. --- You are currently subscribed to linuxconf as: [[email protected]] To unsubscribe, forward this message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
