Do upgrade to Linuxconf 1.13r5, the version on the RH 5.2 CD is not
current. The URL you need is:

    ftp://ftp.solucorp.qc.ca/pub/linuxconf/devel/redhat-5.2/

I hope you mean ppplogin?

As far as I know, suid is required for dialin PPP to work as expected.
In Linuxconf 1.13r4, pppd is set rwxsr-xr-x but in some older versions
of Linuxconf it was not, and perhaps the version that ships with RH
5.2 does not do this by default for security reasons? I forget
exactly when that changed in Jacques' Linuxconf RPMs. You can change
this Linuxconf setting in the 'Control Files and Systems' ->
'Configure file permission and ownership' menu to set it however you
want. This will stop the 'complaining' :-)

It works for us here using Linuxconf 1.13r4 and uncommenting the
/AutoPPP/ line that you mentioned. We've made a few local changes to
ppplogin, but they handle special needs we have, not the basics of
making it work. However, we use the ppp RPM that comes with RH 5.2,
which is ppp-2.3.3-4, not the newer one you are using. I have no idea
if that is relevant to the problems you are seeing. I suspect all you
need to do is keep pppd suid and tell Linuxconf about that need.
