That would be great - if you can point me in the right direction, I'll 
try to find out more about the interaction between the two - if this was 
provided by default by these two processes, then it would solve a ton of 
problems for people like myself.

Besides the probably rather tricky method of reinventing the possible 
wheel and writing a synchronize module between dhcpd and bind-8, two 
features that could make things really easy right now would be:

* A method to specify a block of IPs for the hosts file - something like 
being able to enter 192.168.100.100-200 and having linuxconf 
automatically create the proper entries in hosts.

* a quick way to import a hosts file, as you already suggested yourself.

Essentially, concerning the dhcpd/hosts synchronize, it could probably be 
solved rather easily by having a configuration option to set 'synchronize 
dhcpd clients and hosts file y/n', and then, whenever adding clients to 
the dhcpd server config, having them automatically added to the hosts 
file when/if the config is set appropriately.
