I seem to have a problem with LinuxConf on SuSE Linux 5.3 I have been using
Linux Conf
on my 2 RedHat boxes with no problems so I downloaded the latest release and
installed it
on my SuSE box. Re-booting the system after install caused many problems.
 First I received
a lot of messages about parsing named.conf. I was not using named prior to the
Linux Conf
installation and the named.conf file was the example file distributed by SuSE.
 The script also
timed out trying to start smbd. After the system started I used LinuxConf to
disable the named daemon
and made a few other modifications. When I attempted to shutdown the system
using
command "shutdown -r now" I received the normal message about the system
shutting down, but
no daemons were stopped and the system did not shut down. After waiting about
15 minutes I found
that the virtual sessions were all gone but the console and XDM were still
present. I manually
dismounted all filesystems and killed jobs then hit the reset button. After
the system came back
up I attempted the command "shutdown -r now" again with the same results. I
have since
removed LinuxConf from the system until I have more time to figure what is
going wrong. If
anyone has any clues I would appreciate hearing from you.
