Sorry but I tried this also before posting and it did not work.
I assume that "Text mode e& Network" is supposed to put my machine in
runlevel 3 whereas Text Mode & Graphics should put it in in runlevel 5
(I know that runlevels are setup dependent. Here is whet my /etc/inittab
says:
--- begin snippet
--------------------------------------------------------------
# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#
id:5:initdefault:
--- end snippet
----------------------------------------------------------------
So let me try switching to text mode with Linuxconf and look at
/var/log/messages :
Hmm... no new messages there... and let's look at /etc/inittab :
Nope... the line:
id:5:initdefault:
is still there.
