It is always better to have a caching name server, but in this case you'll
have to change your forwarders entry in your named.conf if you MUST change
your name servers...

I think you can hack /etc/ppp/ip-up.local to copy the resolv.conf (or
named.conf if using a caching name server) OR use two different profiles for
name server (client or server if caching) and switch them at boot time (less
tricky and more linuxconf-like ;-)

Profiles also lets you change your mail relay, and so on...
