Using RH5.2 with all errata loaded + Linuxconf-1.13r12-1 When creating a new user the password does not seem to be entered into the /etc/passwd file. There are simply two exclamation marks inserted "!!" Using standard tools (adduser and/or passwd etc) work OK. Uninstalling 1.13r12-1 and then re-installing Linuxconf-1.13r10-1 solved the problem. This also seems to have solved the PPP authentication problems I have been plagued with over the last week <grin>. More later on the ppp stuff - no time now.
