Crash and high CPU usage after updating to 0.760

Bug description:
After installing v0.760 the other day, I first noticed the complete slowdown
of the whole application.
Switching between tabs takes several seconds.
And an error that used to surface after about a week of running started
surfacing about twice a day. Something about improper termination of the C++
libraries.(See attached image)
