poy, the upgrade process is rock solid due to arne's, yours and my extensive efforts and testing. The only possible scenario I can imagine when the above can happen if someone (1.) running and old pre-0.75 or portable version from the Program Files folder with UAC on, against our docs' and Microsoft's warning and then (2.) running/installing over the old version as a different user than the old version has been ran under (the case has also a warning in our docs).
The installer warns you if you want to put the settings into the Program Files folder anyway. You can do some check if an old or portable version are to be upgraded and display some another warning that would be skipped by most, however, there's no way to detect what user/admin has ran the old version and what user/admin runs the new one. In this very case the settings move won't work since UAC maps different folders for different users. But even after these wrongdoings by the user the settings are still available in the UAC virtual store so a support question (FAQ?) should clear this problem. I believe this report is not a bug as the issue can be easily avoided with careness or even using common sense. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Dcplusplus-team, which is subscribed to DC++. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257432 Title: Lost settings Status in DC++: Incomplete Bug description: Stupid instalation!
