Objection.  

Login as root.  Open /etc/apt/sources.list in a text editor.  Edit the
contents to...

   deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
   deb http://non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US stable non-US
   deb http://security.debian.org/ stable updates 

(without the indents).  Save.  Connect to the Internet.  Type:

   script
   apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade

You are now running an impressively cutting-edge GNU/Linux box.  (You have
just efficiently upgraded all installed packages to "potato", the 
current "unstable" distribution, which is very close to being re-branded
as the "stable" branch.  A record of your upgrade is in text file
"typescript".)
