We had a wonderful Demo Day!
For being a new club on the Utah State University campus, we were suprized
by the amount of people we had sign up for more information.
Our event was Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
We set up the demonstration in one of the most populated areas of the
student union building (Taggart Student Center for anyone who knows the
campus) and had just a little room to show the huge possibilities that
awaits our future newbies. Although Wednesday was the most active, we had
a good turnout both Thursday and Friday as well.
LDD was the second event our little club has had this month, and we are
following it up with an InstallFest this Saturday from 9:30am - 2:00pm.
We are planning to further enhance the installation experience for our
newcomers, by assisting them with their installations, holding their hands
when needed... but mainly teaching them how to do it themselves. We are
also planning to have 3 presentations on linux throughout the day. Topics
we plan to cover pertain mostly to students new to linux, but we also
have several discussion topics to carry us through the day. We hope that
the InstallFest turns out to be even more educational to newcomers than
our LDD did.
In any event, we are excited about linux and the possibilities it opens to
us as students, businesses, and even homeusers!
