Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode)

In response to Philip and Rohit's post.

About three or four months ago these guys had
advertised Linux training. I had contacted them
since we wanted to get to speed on Linux. The
course would cost is about Rs.8000/- per seat
(less discounts). After speaking to Vishal and
the trainer we thought that we were better off on
our own.
Vishal Gupta phoned me yesterday enquiring if we
were interested in pre installed PCs with Linux.
He said that they had solved all technical
problems for the hardware and software (HAHA, I
did not enquire on his latest kernel bug fix or
security patch to zope). I enquired if he was
aware of ILUG-BOM. He said he was not aware. I
presume that Philip must have mentioned ILUG.
Also claimed that they were "official
distributors of Redhat, Suse, Caldera and others"
(Hey Prakash whatsthis). Wanted to know what mail
server I used and said that they have solutions
for Mail servers. Pointed him to Sendmail, Qmail.
Suggested that he join up ILUG.
Apparently the guy is trying to sell OS software
as his own. He wasn't explicit about service or
OS. Also seems he has somthing to hide hence
denial of knowing ILUG-BOM. I also seem to
remember they had an empty stall at Bang Linux.
Might be interesting to call him to the next LUG
meet (incidentally he stays somwhere in Chembur).

While wishing him success in his business I think
we should also ensure that OS is not exploited
and maligned just as it is getting into the main
stream. Calling him to LUG should help.
