Welcome to the powerful world of emacs!
Open your document.c in your emacs, it automatically loads it in c-mode.
Write your code, and compile using C-c-c. (keeping ctrl pressed, press c
twice). If you want to know more key-board-maps of c-mode, C-h-m will give
you mode help. In emacs for each mode you have a separate key-board-maps.
Best thing to do is, patiently go through the tutorial: C-h-t, and then `info
emacs' for all the details for customization.
