Pals some stuff on Remote Booting.
Using the Netboot package that comes along with Etherboot i am able to
boot my m/c remotely over the network using a floppy , dowload the Kernel via
TFTP & configure the NIC via BOOTP.
FOr this i had to recompile the KERNEL & include some additional NFS &
BOOTP options in it.
But , now comes the issue of mouting an NFS
partition over the network, where the whole thing gets messy & troublesome.
After the m/c boots up & BOOTP initializes the NIC, the NFS mounts take place &
imidiately various messages r thrown up like /sbin/init , /rc.d/kbd not
found. It also mentions "Mingetty respawning too fast & hangs".
On the server I have shared a separate NFS
mount consisting of all the needed libraries & /dev , /etc , /sbin & /bin
directories & the /etc/exports entry has been made.
What entries should my NFS exported directory , /etc/fstab contain for
mounting a "/" ??
will this do?? -> /dev/nfs / ext2 default 1 1 ???
But still things dont work.
Ny Ideas, why things have gone awry ?? .
