I suppose that's the system oscillator. Nothing would work without that.
What is broken is what should perhaps be called the BIOS' notion of what
the wall clock is saying. In other words, I think the BIOS clock is
broken. When I enter the BIOS setup (it's the usual AMI BIOS setup) the
clock is frozen. My dad said the Windows clock was frozen too, but I've
left the box running Linux since I discovered the problem.
