Now, here's the scene:
one Linux M/c with the samba setup and a Win98 m/c.
With the command

bash# mount -t smbfs <windoze cd drive> <a directory  on Linux  m/c>

I'm able to access the *.cda from the linux m/c.
the sequence of requests would prolly be :
client process -----> Samba------>Win98---(cda list)--->Samba--->client
process

when the CD is in the Linux M/c,
client process--->Samba--->read cd process--(no list)--->Samba--->client
                                                        |
                                        This step fails

The CD listing of *.cda is just the Table of Contents on the CD, not the
actual ''files''
 (do they approximate roughly to hard links on an ext2 filesystem?)
So, theoretically, if there was a way to extract only the Table of Contents
from the
Audio Cd while its on the linux system, we could play songs off the CD thru
samba..
how do CD players for Linux work....?
comments solicited!!
