Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode)
To always start X with 16 bit colour depth, create a file in
/etc/X11/xinit called xserverrc
make this file executable and add this line to it:
exec Xwrapper -bpp 16
If you want the settings for your login only, then add it to
$HOME/.xserverrc instead.
Still not sure if this works if you start directly into run level 5
(Redhat)
