Although most linuxers would be happy with Emacs ( pico, jed, joe etc. for
the lesser mortals :-), initially me too was frustrated with the lack of a
proper IDE.
SO friends, indians, countrymen, those accustomed to the TC ide or EDIT.COM,
look no further
just type wpe or xwpe(for the X version). Thats the windowed programmers
editor(If i got it right).
Although, not in the league of EMACS (did you know there is devanagiri
support within emacs, u just need the proper fonts installed( i dont know
which one, though)), its way tooo coool for those accustomed to DOS editors.
And since its curses based, you can also use Ctrl and Alt keys normally.
If not installed, try looking for some wpe*.rpm in ur CD. I am using RH 6.2
(PCQ).

BTW, before u check out Kdevelop (i.e VC for linux, but once again way tooo
coool), you should check out GLADE (only under GNOME).
