Umm... maybe I'm just lucky then. I get a delay of about 2-5 secs, which
IMO is reasonable. The main reason I switched to PAP authentication is
because sometimes the '>' prompt is received and sometimes it isn't
(atleast for the 4404444 number, 172226 doesn't seem to have this
problem), and I wasn't sure how to handle this. The solution, i guess, is
_not_ to expect a '>' prompt at all, and to send out a 'ppp' anyways
(maybe after a small delay after the passwd prompt).
