hi friends,
when i give the username and password given below it gives me an error
"need explicit attach before authenticating a user"
this is how i went about
1)i logged into the oracle directory as user oracle
2)typed sqlplus at the command prompt
3)the login and password were given when asked for.

yep
default users are
system/manager
sys/change_on_install
If you have OSDBA privileges then you could try sqlplus internal
