This is a true story.
One of our Company secretary has been using
wordstar and lotus (heavily) for the past 10 yrs.
He had a 386 4 mb 40mb machine for the past 8
yrs. Recently his hard disk crashed. The system
had to be scrapped for obvious reasons. He
purchased a brand new machine with win and
office.
He could not use it at all. After 2 weeks of
mucking around he could barely use ofice. he is
using the amdk6ii 450mhz with 64 mb under dos
with ye old wstar. After 4 months he is now able
to get around windows but says that his
productivity is very very limited under windows.
So howzzat.
Crashes: is the hardware malfuntioning. No
problems under linux (from 486 to athlon with
assorted disks, graphics etc). However I always
configure my machine hardware after plenty of
checking so i think it would be more stable
anyway. I rebooted windows seven times in a few
minutes today (after resizing and moving the
notepad window). KDM / IceWM has not crashed
since Jan.
Development: Just finding my feet in KDE & OBERON
so no comments. However under windows it's blue
screen all the way (even Delphi). Assembly is the
same everywhere any way ;-).
