Exactly the same thing was being worked upon. It's going to be a module
and you can decide on a per directory basis whether you want compression
or not. First the check for browser capability. Mozilla supports gzip'ed
pages, as does lynx and I'm pretty sure that Navigator does too. There's
also going to be a cache of most requested pages so that gzip'ing doesn't
happen everytime. It can just be served off the cache.
Should definitely watch this modules closely.
