Mail from ILUG-BOM list (Non-Digest Mode) _______________________________________________ Hi, I had 32 MB ram on my machine. I recently bought additional 64 MB totalling the RAM to 96 MB. The bios detects the new RAM perfectly and showed total 96 MB. Even Win NT detected 96 MB, but some how Linux showed only 64 MB. Why is it so ? I am using Red Hat Linux 6.2 kernel 2.2.16-3 compiled for i686. I had read somewhere that the 64 RAM limitation was a problem of kernel 2.0.x. Does it still persist or am I missing out something ? I boot using loadlin.exe, so added the option "mem=96M" to the batch file. It works that way, but I want to know whether there is still problem in Linux to detect more then 64 MB RAM. And if there is any other way apart from what I have done. Rajen. _______________________________________________ Next Meet on 12th Nov 2000 at HBCSE Website: http://www.ilug-bom.org.in/ Linuxers mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://ilug-bom.org.in/mailman/listinfo/linuxers CHAT: irc.ilug-bom.org.in
