Dear Linux People,

I am writing to you from the United States. My mother lives in Bombay. She
recently bought a computer, in large part to communicate with me by email
in the US. The computer has both Windows and Linux currently on it. We
have been experiencing some technical difficulties with it, which I hope
will be resolved shortly.

The trouble is that my mother is not at all technically proficient with
computers. You may ask, as several people have, why in that case I don't
just have her use Windows and be done with it? Well, this is an option,
but Windows is such a dreadful operating system that I cannot bring myself
to actually recommend it to someone. Also, I don't think that more recent
versions of Linux are really harder to use than Windows for simple things
like email, and the appications are usually more sanely designed.

So, I would prefer that my mother try to use Linux rather than Windows,
and I am encouraging her to do so. but she will need considerable help
with it, particularly at the beginning. To start with, I would just like
her to get to the point where she can send email with Pine. Later on, we
may get to slightly more complicated stuff.

So, I am looking for someone who will be willing to act as a tutor on a
regular basis. I can promise that the job will be well paid, and hours are
flexible. We do, however, need someone reliable and reasonably
knowledgeable about Linux/free software. Knowing something about Windows
would be useful but not necessary. Familiarity with pgp would be a plus.
This job would be ideal for a college student looking to pick up some
extra cash. I should mention by parents live in "downtown" Bombay, just a
stones throw from Marine Lines railway station.

Among the advantages to anyone who is interested in taking up this job
would be:

1) Good pay.

2) Good free food if he/she is there around lunchtime.

3) A useful Linux-friendly contact in the United States.

Any takers? Please respond to me if interested at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please note that this is not intended as spam. If I am out of line posting
on this list, please let me know and I will avoid making similar posting
in this future. I have done so here because I could not think otherwise
how to get in touch with Linux people.

                   Sincerely, Faheem Mitha.
