Hiyee Linuxers here's somethin for all of ya,
Just recently i hav been havin some probs with
remote installation of Linux using the NFS mode of
installlation. The installatio in general that i am
talking abt is a stock installation of both SuSE and
RedHat.
Atleast on SuSE i am using the
"nfsserv-2.2beta47-50" NFs server package. My
/etc/exports fils looks as follows.

#begin /etc/exports

# See exports(5) for a description.
# This file contains a list of all directories
exported to other computers.
# It is used by rpc.nfsd and rpc.mountd.
#/cdrom *(ro)
/cdrom 192.168.1.2(rw,no_root_squash)

#end

Many a time when i share this partition over the
network & try mounting it using the BOOT diskette, the
host machine(192.168.1.1) where this NFS partition is
being exported from complains somethin like the
following;
  "Illegal access from 192.168.1.2".
Now doesn't this seem a bit too funny. If you'll
might notice even the 1st line of the /etc/exports
file doesn't work thats why i had to make the 2nd
entry into this file.
But this ain't the end of the story, around a week
later when i decided to move onto reiserfs on SuSE it
just worked with no probs of illegal mounting being
thrown on 192.168.1.1(i.e the NFS server). This prob
was also reported to me by some of my peers to whom i
gave the idea of remote installation of Linux over the
network.

Bye for now & Have a nice day. ;-)
