Should not require a monitor, instead an led/lcd display I had though about this a while back, in terms of a product similar to a handheld mp3 player -- MP3man, one might say. You need a ucontroller or uprocessor -- depends, read the rest. You also need enough EEPROM for n MP3 files. Then enough ROM to hold the decoders, as well as control software. No, not DOS or windows. Maybe some embedded version of Linux. Estimated ROM required: under 512KB. Estimated EEPROM: for 10 MP3s, or 15-20 Oggs, 50 megs. Round to 64 megs. Let's say 2 hours of music => 120 minutes, at 1 meg/min giving you 128megs of EEPROM or a similar-sized magnetic medium (dump the EEPROM). A serial or paraller (preferred) computer interface, copy songs to it, go for a walk. Should be easy enough for someone's BE project. -- Satya. <URL:http://satya.virtualave.net/> US-bound grad students!
