About the StarOffice suite, Yep, I've tried it. Its slightly big and a bit
slow. Otherwise, its really cool. You can do almost everything you can
with MS Office. 

For applications in the CAD domain, take a look at SAL (Scientific
applications for Linux - http://sal.kachinatech.com/) and see if its got
anything you need.

Yes there are pascal compilers for linux, including one by the GNU
foundation. Its called 'gpc' (gnu pascal compiler). You can get the
sources(FROM SAL) and compile it yourself (you need gcc for that).
