Hi All,
This mail is for people having trouble with gnome installation.
After struggling I finally got it configured & must say it beats KDE
hands down. I've got a 486 100Mhz , 16 MB Ram. WHile KDE took ~2-3 min
to start up (considering 'startx' as start point) the
Gnome+englightenment configuration took 25-28 sec!!!!!. The Interface is
brilliant .

[ Interestingly: I did not know this!! when xconfigurator or xf86config
creates the file - XF86Config , the part where VideoRam is entered is
written but left commented out. We have to Uncomment it out ourselves ]

back to gnome.....
There are scripts to help in /usr/englightenment.
For those finding it troublesome, U could try a little cheat!!!
WARNING: This worked for me (It got it working, but I still had to edit
a few files). So in the worst case I guess U could try it.

1. First start your X interface (WMaker, FVWM2 ... ).
2. Open an XTERM .
3. Type 'gnome-session' or 'englightenment' -- you may have to provide
the path ).
4. after running a few lines it give an interface telling you that an X
interface is running & will ask U if enlightenment should modify the
files ( it will give a warning).

exit & restart the X-server.

- It basically modifies .xinitrc with /usr/bin/enlightenment (path to
engl....).

Hope Someone finds this useful...
C'Ya Later
