Hi guys,

After waiting too long for second release of the CHIP Special, I launched a
manhunt for the nearest owner and got it from him on loan. Results? A lot
of pleasant surprises and, sadly a few (old) bugs.

Firstly, I still cant get gcc to compile my test C-progs. This time I made
double sure that I had selected all the required development packages and
libraries. But still its the same error - "undefined reference to 'whatever
function I use'" The only functions that work are the ones in the stdio.h
library. I remember the last time that I successfully (tried and) compiled
a program was way back in March98 on Red Hat 5.0

Second, the sound card. By a queer twist of fate, I am stuck with a Yamaha
OPL3-SaX sound card. It was magically detected by kernel-2.2 It was also
allocated the required entries in /dev/sndstat. The entries in
/proc/interrupts and /proc/dma list it as Windows Sound System, which is
okay since the card uses that. But alas, I am still deprived from the sweet
sounds of dear old Tux and his many little apps.

Help is desperately needed.
Sameer.
