say that you want to start myprogram from an user login like binny from an
rc.local
file; then the rc.local file would have an entry like....

     su binny -c myprogram

you can try an e.g. like

     su binny -c ls

hope this helps.

Subject: starting a process as another user

How do i start a process from rc.local as a user other than root?
(specifically fetchmail to be started as if some user other than root
typed it at their prompt, so that it uses the correct rc file and the
correct user etc.)
