1. I assume the CD is mounted
2. the CD has no bad sectors ? try copying the whole CD to say /tmp/cdrom or
something and install from there
3. make sure the destination file does not exist... and write permissions
are given on the dest directory.
4. it says 'write error'
 use df or du to check free disk space;
5. check for bad sect on hDD with e2fsck.
