This is reagarding problem in configuring squid nd samba server.
in squid i have to edit the file /etc/squid.conf ( idont remember the
directory but its sure that i edited the proper file) nd just add
port 8080 as http proxy.
My Linux server has IP address 192.168.100.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
but when i configure my windows 98 machines giving proxy server address
192.168.100.1 all machines shows apache webserver worked.
ie. they actually call Apache webserver which is configured on my machine.
every site called by the client machines by IE or netsacpe brings Apache
servers index file Y is it so.
can ne one help me regarding that..
also while configuring Samba. i edited /etc/smb.conf nd filled out all
details such as Domain name .. comments..
security = share
[netlogon] part is also uncommented.
[profiles] uncommented.
but some how i dont know how users from client machines are not able to
login ( i tried /etc/smbpasswd nd also /etc/passwd option
i first disabled encrypted password nd then tried enabling it but the client
machines said wrong password)
I created seperate users for different machines .
the only user that works is guest user.
also i cannot telnet the server as root
nd cannot telnet on any server users..
nor is ftp working by loggin as users which i created in Linux machines..
can somebody send me their working
/etc/smb.* files nd
/etc/squid/squid.* files
so that i can configure them myself...
One important point is that while installing Redhat 6.1 from PCQ i had one
problem
while installing in custom mode i installed all softwares ..
when all softwares got installed in i.e. the setup progress bar completed
installing it said
post install configuration nd the machine hanged i.e no activity in CDrom
nor in the HDD.
i tried installing it 3 times all the time the same problem at the end it
would just hang..
so i tried upgrade option after the 3rd installation nd the upgrade
installed properly i.e post installation configuration completed succesfully
...( so i thought that there is some problem with the installation if that
is so then i dont know how to check nd how to correct it)
