hi friends
configuration :
ntserver, linux server rh6.1, win95
clients
domain " ntdomain" for file sharing i.e
ntmachine
linux server : 192.168.1.1
ntserver :
192.168.1.2
win95 clients : 192.1681.3 till
192.168.1.33
couldnt figure out the "network " and " broadcast
"
didnt know ther use so left the setting alone while
installing linux rh6.1
server side :
registered domain : centrumfinance.com
hostname : centrumfinance
domain : centrumfinance.com
ping thru all machines was working fine
too
telnet also was working and i could easily see the
user and ther respective mails at their mail box
kppp was working fine
fetchmail was configured easily with a single user
entered for testing
at the server side the fetchmail showd me thts
its flushing and sendmail was ued for sending
client side :
outlook express was configured
pop3 : 192.168.1.1
smtp : 192.168.1.1
sendmail configuration :
sendmail.cgf -> DS was set as
"bom2.vsnl.net.in"
DM
was set as "centrumfinance.com"
for internal mailing there were some settings told
my pcquest
so i did as told : to add "e" at the end of some
smtp and stuff
i hope some people know wht i m referring
too
since i wanted to send mails internally even all
going to outside world
should first turn up on my machine and from there
when i run fetchmail they should go.....to there respective
addresses
client side said server could be down while
receving mails
while sending it said " relaying to specific domain
not done "
samba wasnt showing up
i didnt get why..wasnt it
as my ntserver was "ntdomain" in the smb.conf i
changed tht as my workgruop
security was "user"
other settings didnt touch
still wasnt showing up at the network
ok now i went for squid
cheked the setting thru linux.conf
set the squid port to 3128
as there was an option for transparent proxying i
enabled it
it started working
previosly when i has set the http port at client
side to 80 or 8080
apache said it worked and squid showed its stuff
tht site isnt accessible
evrything was showing up after squid was setup to
3128 at client side
now kppp was working fine
suddenly i started getting message at kppp tht kppp
daemom died unexpectedly
tried to do a lot of r n d with it but couldnt
succeed and was unable to get thru the net
any further
pleas help where am i goin wrong
i hope we discuss my project at the upcoming meet
on sunday
