How are you trying to access hotmail?  Hotmail uses SSL to login, so that
may be a problem.

What are you using on the client side?  And the server side?  If you have
a Windows 95/98 Client and a Linux Server, then there may be a problem.
Win 95 only allows you to type a password.  The username is what you use
to log in to windows.  You may need to put this username into the
smbpasswd and passwd file.

If you are using a Linux Client and a Win NT server, then the problem is
that Win NT does not accept plain text passwords, while linux sends only
plain text passwords.  You will have to change some settings in Win NT.

If client is win nt and server is Linux then there should not be any
problem.
